ALD Automotive launches Own my car. Lease drivers will now be able to sell their lease cars at the end of the contract via social media. The online tool was devised by ALD Automotive and developed in collaboration with Cap Gemini. Own my car will be starting up today as a pilot with 250 participants.
Car bloggers Werner Budding, Wouter Karssen and Evelin Dorssers will be taking each other on to determine which of the three has the strongest social network. They’ll be doing this by simultaneously offering a 2012 Kia Sportage 1.6 GDI for sale at €15,950.
Economical price and greater trust
With Own my car, ALD Automotive lease drivers receive an attractive offer to take over the car 8 to 10 weeks before the end of their contract. If they don’t want to do so, the same offer can be shared via social media. If it leads to a sale, then the lease driver receives a dinner voucher for €150. Purchasing a used lease car through Own my car brings a number of advantages with it. The buyer benefits from a price advantage and there’s a greater degree of trust because the car is bought from someone within his/her personal network. Sales via Own my car allow ALD Automotive to remove a link from the operational process, which represents savings for them.
Driver Experience Challenge
Own my car is the winning idea devised by ALD Automotive Netherlands during the Driver Experience Challenge. During this international innovation competition, all 41 participating countries could pitch an innovative idea. The Dutch contribution was rated the best and won the execution of the idea as a result. Cap Gemini France contributed a team of six people to help further develop the Own my car idea into a market-ready product.
