Our parent company ALD S.A. - based in France - has signed a memorandum of understanding for 100% acquisition of LeasePlan. The proposed acquisition will be made effective for a total amount of EUR 4.9 billion and the contractual closing of the agreement is expected before the end of 2022. NewALD will thus become a leading global mobility player, enabling us to lead the digital transformation in the mobility industry. And we can be at the forefront of sustainability changes.
LeasePlan is one of the leading fleet management and mobility companies in the world by fleet size (total fleet of 1.8 million3 vehicles), with a global and extensive offering making it the perfect fit for ALD to shape the industry’s transformation. ALD Automotive had 1.68 million vehicles on October 1, 2021. The proposed combination of ALD and LeasePlan in NewALD would be highly synergetic. The goal is to be able to respond even better and faster to underlying megatrends, including the:
- Shift from ownership to usership on all fronts: B2B, B2C and B2E
- Data-driven digital transformation of the mobility industry
- Transition to emission-free and sustainable mobility
Future
This deal represents a major step for ALD that would position NewALD for long-term fleet growth of at least 6% per year. By combining the strengths of ALD and LeasePlan in NewALD, growing and joining forces in digitalisation and electrification, we are even better placed to deliver a broad range of mobility solutions to you and our other customers.
