Vulnerability in commonly used software called Apache Log4j

As you may have heard in the news, the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), part of the Ministry of Justice and Security, is warning about a vulnerability in globally used software called Apache Log4j.

This software is used by almost all companies for keeping digital logs. For example, it registers which usernames log in to a website and when. A security vulnerability allows hackers to easily gain access to company systems.

ALD Automotive takes information security very seriously to protect customer data and our own information systems. As a result, ALD Automotive Group's security and engineering teams have been on high alert since December 10, 2021, monitoring threat developments (related to exploitation of the recent vulnerability affecting the Apache Log4j library CVE-2021-44228) closely.

To date, our services have not been affected by the vulnerability. The potentially vulnerable systems have been widely identified and urgent update procedures for associated systems have been activated. Our technical teams closely monitor and conduct regular audits, in particular by looking for traces of security breaches based on information provided by our suppliers and the cybersecurity community.
