COVID-19 and your mobility policy

COVID-19 and your mobility policy

Will my lease car drivers still be able to safely use public transport soon? How can I make my fleet more flexible? And what about the delivery and maintenance of and repairs to lease cars?

Unsurprisingly, our sales team are fielding a lot of questions about the impact of COVID-19 on the management of lease cars and mobility. We’ve listed a few of the frequently asked questions and their answers for you.

1.    Does COVID-19 have an impact on the services provided by ALD Automotive?

Our staff are working from more than 200 home addresses throughout the Netherlands to provide the services you have become accustomed to receiving from us. Due to the social distancing guidelines, our account managers are currently available to you online and by telephone.

Maintenance, repairs, tyre changes and car deliveries will continue as usual where possible. Our service partners follow the safety and hygiene guidelines laid down by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), so you can plan an appointment if you wish. If the delivery time for your car has been delayed by factory closures, we can bridge the waiting period with a contract extension, a rental vehicle or an occasion lease, if desired.

2.    How can I respond to the current situation with my mobility policy?

In these uncertain times, you will need to take a different approach with your leasing strategy. Contracts due to expire can be renewed, naturally, but extending them is also a useful alternative at the moment. Extending contracts gives you the flexibility to rapidly reduce or increase your fleet when necessary.

You can also increase your flexibility by using occasion lease cars. ALD Automotive has young used cars available that can easily last another one or two years. Alternatively, you can leave the purchase and choice of vehicle to us through ALD Choice. We can purchase the vehicles in bulk, so you benefit from competitive rates without unexpected costs.

We’d be happy to consult with you about the best solutions for your mobility policy. Feel free to contact your account manager to discuss your specific situation.

3.    How are my employees to travel in a 1.5m society?

To minimise the chance of infection, you can offer your employees alternatives that enable them to avoid using public transport. An e-bike is worth considering for those employees who normally travel by public transport. This is safe because it’s easier to maintain distance, while also being good for your health.

There are also other options, including relaxing parking policies, the temporary use of vehicles, and travelling outside of rush hours.

4.    How is ALD Automotive contributing?

While some people are now less mobile than usual, cars are more important than ever for many healthcare workers who can no longer travel by public transport. Automotive companies are joining forces to make cars available on a temporary basis especially for them. ALD Automotive has also made ten lease cars available for a minimum of three months, five of which are for ZorgheldenAuto’s.
